We cannot wait for tomorrow! Today we were very busy getting ready for our important guests before Grandparents' Day! Our heart craft says "I Love You to Pieces", and the kids filled the heart in with little pieces of construction paper.
We spent some time today connecting math to our own lives. See their completed "Math About Me" projects hanging in our hallway! A lot of stamina building has been going on in 2R lately, and we are loving this important time of our day! We have surpassed 20 minutes of reading stamina, and we are on the road to becoming better readers with each passing day. Daily 5 will soon be in full swing in our classroom. :) We came up with lots of ideas that explained what science is... Experiments, using data, going through the steps of the scientific method, testing, using our senses, "potions" :), etc. Then we learned that science is even MORE than what we came up with. It is everything and all around us... The study of structures, animals, weather, space, rocks, nature, etc. We also spent some time drawing what we believed a scientist looks like. Afterwards, we had a great discussion about how we are all scientists! The class was introduced to one of our favorite apps on the iPads in 2R... Kahoot! They worked at their table groups, taking turns answering questions that reviewed our classroom rules and routines, and learned how the game works. They LOVED it, and it was fun to see them get so excited :). We will be using this app a lot throughout the year to practice grammar, vocabulary, math, etc. skills. If you hear the word "Kahoot" around the house, this is what they are talking about! |
