We took advantage of some 80 degree weather and went outside to review adding and subtracting multiple digit math problems! Each student had a name tag with a different number on it. When the music was playing, we had a dance party! When the music stopped, students found a partner, and added/subtracted each other's numbers on their name tags on their whiteboards. I loved seeing them helping each other out when needed and checking each other's work! :) We did an author study on Robert Munsch this past week. We read loads of his books while discussing genre, author's craft, theme, author's purpose, illustrations, and summarized each story using somebody, wanted, but, so, then. The students were then responsible for reading a different book, not discussed in class, written by Robert Munsch. They summarized their book and put these "book trailers" together using the iMovie app on the iPads. They all worked so hard, and they turned out AWESOME! :) :) 50 Below Zero by Joey & Charlotte Aaron's Hair by Brianna & Marlo Something Good by Brooke & Tessa The Dark by Mikey & Nathan Andrew's Loose Tooth by Brian & Nicholas Class Clown by Ella & Carsten Smelly Socks by Avalyn, Carli, & Elaina The Sand Castle Contest by Max & Hunter Mmm, Cookies by Caine & Gage Something Good by Katie & Jade We all had such a great time together on Friday afternoon at our 2nd grade Mother's Day Tea. There was a lot of pampering going on... beautifully painted nails, brushed hair, and massaged shoulders! Thank you, moms, for ALL that you do! I hope you enjoy your day today. You are all so loved and appreciated! :) It's so hard to believe we are now counting down the last 22 days of 2nd grade! Time really does fly when you're having fun! Going backwards in number order, we have started to celebrate one fabulous student a day! :) Each child will come home on their day with a poster filled out with all sorts of kind things that stand out about him or her written by our classroom family! Also, each child will get to be a "guest reader" during snack time and share his or her favorite book with the class! We had a BLAST at our field trip on Friday! I was so proud of everyone for trying their best... so many of our friends have never skated before, and it was great to see them having positive attitudes and an open mind about it! They all got the hang of it, and we all had tons of fun with plenty of exercise. A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Rutzen, Mr. Flentge, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Birk, & Carsten's grandpa for coming to our field trip to help out! We all appreciate you TONS! :) |
