We had a BLAST at our field trip on Friday! I was so proud of everyone for trying their best... so many of our friends have never skated before, and it was great to see them having positive attitudes and an open mind about it! They all got the hang of it, and we all had tons of fun with plenty of exercise. A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Rutzen, Mr. Flentge, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Birk, & Carsten's grandpa for coming to our field trip to help out! We all appreciate you TONS! :)
We worked so hard on finishing our final copies of "Team Boy" or "Team Ant" opinion writing based on the book Hey Little Ant! As a way to showcase our amazing writing skills, we each were able to complete our own ChatterPix on the iPads! We took a picture of our ant and shoe that is a part of our final copy product, and we recorded ourselves reading our attention getter, opinion topic sentence, and preview sentence. We were surgeons for the entire afternoon with our own hairnets, gloves, face masks, scalpels (scissors), bone glue (glue sticks), and band-aids! Each group had a patient they needed to complete surgery on. Their bones needed major fixing. The procedure involved letter removals and apostrophe replacement. Their task was to cut the two words on the bones out, decide which letter or letters needed to be cut out, and then they had to glue the two bones together to make one. They put a band-aid where the letter or letters were removed and drew an apostrophe on the band-aid. It was so cute to hear their conversations... "I think our patient is going to make it!", "Now he can walk again!", & "Miss Reszel, I feel like I am a real surgeon!" It was a success for all 5 of our patients... Congratulations to all of our 2R surgeons! :) We all had a blast at Reszel Hospital on Friday afternoon. ChatterPix after SurgeryAs a way to culminate our contraction surgery, groups worked together with the "ChatterPix for Kids" app to speak as if they were the patient! Their responsibility was to explain what contractions are, and what happened during the contraction surgery. Great job, everyone! Below: Carli, Reilly, Hunter, & Carsten's patient after surgery. I loved getting the chance to see so many fun, creative, learning experiences happening over spring break... and that they are enjoying being kids! Thank you for sending me pictures of your child's adventures :)!
