After learning about the steps of the scientific method, as second grade scientists we did an experiment following the steps. We asked a question: How many drops of water can fit on a penny? We formed a hypothesis: I think __#__ drops will fit on the penny. We made sure we had all of our materials: a penny, a dropper, a cup of water, and our recording sheet. The students needed to carefully squeeze one small drop of water onto the penny at a time and count! We learned that scientists need to do multiple trials of an experiment to get the most accurate results. We did about 8 trials and drew our conclusions. We then shared our results and findings with each other.
